Ageing Parent Support Group

Do you have an Ageing or Elderly Parent ?

Are you finding yourself having to do more to support your ageing parent?

Or do you know it’s only a matter of time until you have to do something. (but you are not a ‘carer’ as such). It’s a new and complicated area to deal with, on top of everything else you have to do.
It can be easier to cope, with a group of other people in the same boat

New Support Group !

(to be at Chilwell Rd Methodist Church)

Come and share your knowledge and experience with others.

Don’t struggle, or worry, alone

(were also looking for experts to give short talks on relevant topics)

‘I have no idea what I would have to do to get care support for my parent –  ‘Are they going to take her house to pay for it ? Someone else has already been through that whole learning curve and can tell you what you need to know.

We envisage a monthly meeting, with a couple of short talks by experts in areas of health & social care, food, crime prevention, home adaptation etc. plus general sharing of knowledge and experience.

Cycling Without Age

Marvellous idea that has become a global movement.

Benefits – What Benefits are Available for the over 60’s ?

Citizens advice are usually the first port of call, as they have advisers who are familiar with this area.

There are at least 10 benefits you may be eligible for, depending on your health and income. This is an area we are hoping to get some expert advice on.
A lot of benefits for the elderly don’t get claimed

Newcastle Portal has a good page listing benefits:
Please let us know of any local equivalent

Good article from

Broxtowe ‘Benefits Adviser’ page
gives link to, which then gives links to three different benefits calculators.  e.g.  Turn2Us
Have no idea how good these are ??  Also, one must be cautious giving online sites your personal / financial details, in case your personal details were to get hacked.
